Surgery

The doctors at our facility have extensive experience in performing routine surgeries such as ovariohysterectomy (spay), castration (neuter), prophylactic gastropexy, mass removals, and laceration repair/wound management.

Orthopedic and complex surgeries that might otherwise be referred to a specialty facility can be scheduled here providing our clients this convenient and often money-saving option. For the more advanced procedures, such as orthopedic surgery, complicated abdominal and/or thoracic surgery, complicated mass removals necessitating skin grafts among others, we have Dr. Denise Bierens.

Dr. Bierens completed a surgical residency at VCA West Los Angeles Animal Hospital and since completing the program she has worked in several referral hospitals throughout Los Angeles and Orange County. More recently she has decided to focus her time on working at the Animal Hospital of South bay and spending more time with her kids.

We offer orthopedic surgeries for the repair of luxating patella’s, bone fractures, cranial cruciate ligament disease (tibial plateau leveling osteotomy (TPLO) and extracapsular/lateral suture repair), femoral head and neck ostectomy (FHNO or FHO) and soft tissue surgery ( perineal urethrostomy (PU), total ear canal ablation (TECA), abdominal exploratory, foreign body removal, gastrotomy, intestinal resection and anastomosis, gastric dilation and volvulus (GDV), splenectomy, cholecystectomy, and more. Please call to schedule an appointment with Dr. Bierens if your pet needs any of these surgical procedures.

Every orthopedic and soft tissue procedure will be discussed in depth so that you establish and gain a full understanding of the diagnosis, surgical procedure, follow-up care and prognosis of your pet.
